Sea World

We went with the Season Passes to Sea World this year and have make a couple of trips so far and are planning another soon. The boys have really enjoyed it.   One of Wyatts favor thing to say (over and over) after his first visit has been, “Shamu!…Water!…Splash!”

After waiting in line for a picture with Shamu we didn’t get much cooperation from Wyatt.  But then he is probably the smart one here, it’s probably good advise to never turn you back on a killer whale.

And Cameron turns 4

Cameron had a fun pary for his 4th birthday at the Big Drip Ice Cream Parlor in Dripping Springs. There was cake and ice cream, games, and dancing.

Wyatt Turns 2

It’s hard to believe but Wyatt is now two years old.  He was able to celebrate the occasion with a party with few friends from his class. There was cake and ice cream and kids bouncing off the walls. Also Grandma and Grandad stopped by for a visit.

Obviously, it was an Elmo themed party.

One was his gift was some fun monkey bars.

A big change that came along with turning two is the switch to the big boy bed.  Now Wyatt is no longer in the crib and is in a bed just like his big brother.

We were at the KLBJ Breakfast Bash  again this year and Fox 7 was our photographer for the event.

The Aggies win for the second year in a row.  Yeah, it is nice to have the win for your team when you work for your rival.

Coach Fran “resigns”. WHOOP!!! YAHOOOOOOO!!! Everyone knew it was coming but to actually hear it as a fact, it just gives you the warm fuzzies for the future of A&M football. He seems to be a nice enough guy and all, but as a coach… well he seems to be a nice enough guy.  Just watching the game I kept thinking “Coach Fran is not calling this game.”  The offense was actually going after the weaknesses in the Texas defense (the secondary), Lane got a fair share of carries (more that McGee), and the option was used sparingly.  Sure enough when the cameras showed him on the sideline he didn’t have the usual playcard and headphones (the sure sign that he is calling the plays), so I guess he can thank Les Koenning for the chance to go out on a high note with a nice win.

Now for the search for a new coach.  I would say that it can only get better but I know that is not true.  My faith in Bill Byrne making a good coaching call isn’t much greater than my faith in Coach Fran making a good play call.  ESPN is saying Mike Sherman will be announced as the new coach today, we’ll see.

Elsewhere in college football, my little hometown had a BIG impact on the BcS*, even though the announcers on ABC did not know where it is (their guess of near Houston was only off by a couple of hundred miles). There are only two players from Marlin playing Division I-A football (the changing from A/AA to Bowl/Championship is almost as stupid as the BCS).

Both made plays that are up for the “Pontiac Game Changing Performance“!!

Matterral Richardson plays for Arkansas who knocked off #1 LSU.  Not only did he lead the Razorbacks in tackles for the day (with 11), he made the game winning interception of the LSU 2-point attempt which was replayed hundreds of times in every game highlight reel for the rest of the weekend.

Danario Alexander plays for Missouri who knocked off #2 Kansas and, in the process, became the new #1.  He was the leading receiver for the Tigers with 117 yards and a TD.  His last catch was at the end of the game when Kansas was coming back strong, he made a big reception on a third and long to keep a drive alive and, more importantly for Missouri,  keep the Kansas offense off the field.

Some day I will have to tell all the evidence (of which these players are only a small example) as to how Marlin is some sort of central point in the Universe, but that is for another time.

*not a typo, small chance of finding real champion in all the BS!!

Port A For The Weekend

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

We had our first family vacation to the beach this past weekend.  We had a great time staying at a condo belonging to one of Jennifer’s attorneys.  The sand and surf was a hit with Cameron.  Wyatt wasn’t so excited about the water after being bowled over by a wave.

This is just before the point at which Wyatt no longer liked the water.wyatt_surf.jpg

Cameron loved the water especially when I took him out to where the bigger waves were breaking.

Building sandcastles was fun for all the boys (including Dad). The first attempt below got the Godzilla treatment after we built a bigger better one the next day.

There were plenty of walks on the beach and searching for shells and crabs. And of course the feeding of the sea gulls was a big hit.

All in all it was a nice vacation. We had a nice dinner at the Wharf seafood restaurant an anothe dinner at a place called Hooks that wasn’t too bad.

The only downside of this trip was some car trouble when we were leaving.  The alternater went out and it was getting really stressfull about whether or not we would make it to Corpus after a jumpstart, but we did and had some excellent service at Corpus Auto Service.

Halloween

Well this is as good a time as any to put the first post out there.

First, thank you very much to Mike for setting me up and sharing his space with me.

Most of what you will find here will be about Cameron and Wyatt. So that is the best way to get started.

Halloween was two nights ago, and it was the first Trick or Treat for the boys.  They did great.

Super Brothers

Dash (Cameron) was funny.  At the very first house we stopped at, he took one piece of candy and the nice lady told him to take a second piece.  Then for the rest of the night he was under the impression that it was a rule that you are supposed to get two pieces of candy at each house.

Superman (Wyatt) had a super time.  His super power (in or out of costume) is his smile.  He used it wisely all night and charmed so much candy out of the people that we had to move the overflow from his pail to Cameron’s.

The Jack-o-Lantern this year was pretty funny too.  I let Cameron draw the design on the pumpkin and he drew a smiley face about the size of a postage stamp. So when I carved the face I told him I used his drawing, just made it a little bigger.

Kids with Mr. Smiley

Of course after you pillage the neighborhood, you must do inventory of your haul. And no they will not be eating all the candy, we don’t need them hyped up on sugar, flying and running around the house like Superman and Dash 24 hours a day.

Candy Invertory

It was a good night.  Everyone had a good time, including Mom and Dad.
